This week I tried a couple of new things with my breadstick recipe that a couple of sisters shared with me. Oh, I was so excited to try their ideas! Here is my original recipe, and then their ideas on the bottom:

Soft and Fast Bread Sticks

1 c. warm water
3 T. brown sugar
1 t. salt
1/4 c. oil
2 1/2 c. bread flour
1/2 c. whole wheat flour (can use all bread flour if desired)
2 1/2 t. yeast

Put all in order in the bread machine. Set to dough cycle. Let rise in the machine. Take out and pat into a semi-long rectangle, (about 9x11). Take a pizza cutter and slice lengthwise into 7 or 8 strips. Take one strip at a time and twist a bit before laying on a greased cookie sheet. Do the rest of the strips putting them an inch away from each other on the pan. Cover and let rise. (I do this in a warm place, they rise fast.) Then cook at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. (If I want thinner breadsticks I cut them thinner and into 14 or 15 strips.) Enjoy!

*Prisca took this recipe and brushed some of the risen breadsticks with olive oil, then sprinkled them with herbs. I tried this, and it was a big hit! I called them "Italian breadsticks," and my husband said he liked these better than my other ones. Prisca also took half of the dough and made cinnamon twists. I did this as well. Oh, did my kids go nuts over these! I took strip of dough, cut it in half, and twisted it. Then I let them rise and brushed them with melted butter, after sprinkling with a little cinnamon/sugar. (I believe Prisca used turbino sugar, but I didn't have that on hand.) They were all baked the same amount of time.

*Mary Jane took the dough and made balls to put in her freezer. She then took them out and put three each in a greased muffin tin to let rise. She said they were like a cloverleaf roll. I did this as well, and everyone thought I had made a new recipe! It was fun and delicious.

I did all three new ideas in one day, from the same recipe, but my family thought I made all these from three different recipes. Shhhhhh, don't tell them. ~Smile~ Thank you, Mary Jane and Prisca!

Have a wonderful week learning all that He has for you.
